If you’ve been living under a rock since "Parks and Recreation" premiered in 2009 then you might be asking yourself:

Well, I’m here to tell you that Galentine's day is the best fictional holiday ever created. It is so wonderful that my best friends and I celebrate it every year. It comes just one day before Valentines Day and it is super easy to celebrate! Simply leave your significant other behind and spend the day with your closest girlfriends. If you still need a little convincing as to why Galentine's Day is the absolute best, then here are five reasons why it will always be better than Valentine's Day.

1. No relationship? No problem!

In the words of Leslie Knope, this day is all about ladies celebrating ladies! It’s OK to be single for this glorious holiday. There’s so much pressure to have a date or be in a relationship on Valentine's Day but not Galentine's Day! Your best friends are automatically your date for this holiday and let’s be honest, that’s already 10-times cooler.

2. You can wear whatever you want.

Again, Valentine's Day puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on those who celebrate. I’ve known people who plan their Valentines Day outfit a month in advance. However, your best friends have probably seen you in the weirdest outfits known to man. Want to wear sweatpants for your Galentine's day? Awesome. Want to wear a dress? That’s cool too! It’s whatever you and your gals want.

3. Gifts are optional (and less stressful).

How many times have you been super stressed trying to find that perfect Valentine's Day gift? Or how many times have you opened a gift and absolutely hated it? Probably more than you would like to admit. With Galentine's day, gifts are completely optional. We all probably have that one friend who picks up small gifts that remind them of their best friends, but we don’t all have to be that friend for this holiday! No gifts? No problem! Just come for the friendship and the fun.

4. Valentine's Day can make people miserable.

We all have a reason to hate Valentine's Day at one point or another. Some people never grow out hating the hallmark holiday and that’s totally OK because I guarantee there’s a spot for you at a Galentine's Day table! Galentine's Day is all about that good old platonic love. Why spend the day being sad with a box of chocolates you got yourself when you can enjoy a fun filled day with all your besties?

5. It's literally the celebration of being a girl.

Being a girl in this world can be a bit tough. Sometimes the most therapeutic thing you can do is spend the day with all the women in your life and just enjoy life. Talk about your accomplishments, your goals, your dreams, your crush, your ex, your midterms. Nothing is off limits for Galentine's Day! Celebrate all the awesome women in your life, including yourself.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
