Friday night lights are a huge tradition in Small Town, USA. That nearly indescribable feeling you get when you hear the student section roar while the fall breeze flutters across the stadium really awakens your soul.
1. The teammates are your classmates.
You've went to school with all the boys your whole life, and chances are you're friends with a few of them. College and professional football players have no idea who you are, but it’s a totally different ballgame when you cheer on people you know.
2. Tailgating is better in a high school parking lot.
Get you a small charcoal grill, some hot dogs, and some good music. Pre-game traditions are one thing, but tailgating is the perfect recipe for fun. Yes, your principal will more than likely check up on you a few to make sure no one set the school on fire or got burnt, but if they're cool enough they won't shut you down… hopefully.
3. Painting up.
Honestly, I personally believe that painting up is the best part of your few Friday nights in the fall. It's the only time that throwing paint on someone is acceptable.
4. The Band.
Your band is the sound the whole night. They keep the beat going. The half time show is amazing, and the pregame show is just as good. Their hard work and dedication pays off the second they step foot on that field and hear the crowd cheer for them.
5. Your wonderful cheerleaders.
These girls shout above the crowd all night long. They give their whole hearts. This is their passion. People do not see the work that goes into this sport (yes, I did say sport). These girls deserve more respect and support than what they are getting right now.
