ENOUGH with your foul accusations, and cruel assassinations on the character of Saint Valentine's day. TRULY!
Every single (pun intended) Saint Valentine’s Day there's someone who complains about how the day breaks their heart- How there's a gaping hole in their lives and this holiday is a mere reminder to them of it.
That is particularly why I've drafted a list of reasons to enjoy the holiday for anyone:
1. If you're taken
See what I did there?! In all seriousness- good for you. Haters will say that EVERY day should be Saint Valentine's, but that's an absolutely rubbish notion. Pink will go out of style too quickly! Also, it's a fact that not every day will be happy, perfect, or romantic- but this day of all the days of the year should be. Enjoy your love and celebrate it.
2. If Saint Valentine's isn't going as well as you expected
Did you really think this was going to be an only-happy list?
Sometimes, for Saint Valentine's we might end up with someone we aren't the happiest with. Sometimes it's not the most magical of days. That's okay too.
Well no, it's not. Don't feel so alone! Cuffing season peaks at around February (Huffington post even made some cuffing season graphs to prove my point!) and you wouldn't be alone. To that I say, I'm sorry, and I hope you reignite your spark on this wonderful day.
Or not.
3. If you're single
You have a choice to decide whether you're going to complain and hate on others, or be glad and happy for others and write an article telling people not to hate on Valentine's day. Truthfully, the choice is yours.
Valentine's Day can also be a chance for you to drop a hint for someone you fancy OR get in those swell sales that happen at donut shops or what not. If that doesn't make you feel better, remember everyone will eventually die and be alone! Maybe you got out of a relationship and don't want one, or something along the lines of that story- your feelings of missing out are valid, but don't let them get to you.
4. If you're in between
A Saint Valentine's day is a GREAT time to go steady with someone you've been seeing on and off. Remember, a relationship isn't a remote control, it can't switch between off and on!
5. If you like to complain
Regarding "Saint Valentine's day is too materialistic", "every day should be saint valentine's day", "people need to stop lambasting about their S/O and how in love they are"...
I think we've all done that regardless of our relationship status at one point or another because it's simply easy and entertaining to criticize something. Most things said aren't useful, they teach or accomplish nothing. Why be a cloud when you can be a ray of sunshine, honestly!?
Moral of the story: let people enjoy things. Let people love each other.
If you see someone unhappy- try to make their day (watch their favorite film with some ice cream or something!)
Most importantly,
Don’t cry because you’ve got no one to moon over- for you, you are a star.
