Drizzy coined "you only live once," and it was the motto from high school going into college.
Drizzy has definitely made his name known with his music, as well as his relationships with other people in the music industry, even if those relationships are negative ones—as in the Drake/Meek Mill Twitter feud from earlier this year.
From "Hotline Bling" to "6 p.m. in New York," Drake has used his talents to call people out for their crap.
1. "6 p.m. in New York"
There have been numerous issues between Drake and Tyga involving the Young Money record label. In the "If you're reading this, you're too late" mixtape that Drake dropped on February 13th, he straight up calls out all of Young Money. With "6 p.m. in New York" he goes for Tyga's neck. We are all aware of Tyga's jailbait relationship with Kylie Jenner, who was 17 at the time. In the song, Drake calls out Tyga for being immature.
I heard a lil lil homie talking reckless in Vibe
Quite a platform you chose, you shoulda kept it inside
Oh you tried, it’s so childish calling my name on the world stage
You need to act your age and not your girl’s age
I'm going to go ahead and say that Drake won that argument. I'm pretty sure no one else could subtly call someone out in more of a perfect manner.
2. Miley v. Nicki
Throwback to the VMAs when Nicki Minaj called out Miley Cyrus for her words in the media and telling the truth. Miley basically said Nicki is not that nice of a person. TRUE. Anyways, how this relates back to Drizzy takes a turn that no one saw coming.
Nicki and Drake are known to be friends, and some say that Drake is all about Nicki. If you have seen past performances of them together, Drake is trying to YOLO pretty hard in that relationship.
In an article from the Inquisitr, Drake says that he sides with Miley but still rides hard for Nicki. We all know Nicki won't settle for that. Later in the article, Drake says that he wants to team up on a diss track with Miley to throwback at Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill.
We all know that Drake was mobbin' on the low and that all the shade thrown towards Nicki had a purpose.
"Yo, Nicki. What's good?"
3. "30 for 30" Freestyle, Where is Meek?
Meek Mill and Drake have been on the outs for awhile now. As mentioned earlier, the ghostwriter comment via Twitter feud did not sit well with Drizzy.
Meek Mill had taken some time to respond to Drake's many diss tracks. 24Urban states that Meek received some negative backlash on one of his tracks that fired shots at Drizzy.
Drake comes back at full force:
I guess you just making moves on your own time
But just know it’ll be January in no time
And your absence is very concerning
It’s like you went on vacation with no plan of returning
This s*** is purely for sport, I need it 30 for 30
Banners are ready in case we need to retire your jersey
Drake is still firing off and Meek can't get back to him? I guess he is in retirement.
4. Common and Serena
This is definitely a throwback. Back in 2012, Common's ex-girlfriend and star tennis player Serena Williams was barking up Drake's tree. There is a timeline depicting the feud on MTV. But Common finally confirmed that "Sweet" was taking shots at Drake.
Drake was not afraid to publicly throw some shade at Common.
During a Las Vegas show, Drake addressed an interview Common did by simply saying: "I might sing, but I ain't no bitch. If Common got something to say, say it to my face."
How many of us would publicly say something like that about someone during a concert? Not many, that's how many.
5. Rihanna may be the devil.
Before Nicki Minaj, there was Rihanna. Rihanna has had some past drama with boyfriends but is typically quiet in the media about her personal life. You go, Riri. You go.
However, after the Riri/Drake split, Drake had some subliminal shade to throw about the "Disturbia" singer.
During OVO fest in Toronto, Drake dissed Rihanna via a picture. On a screen behind Drake, during the show, a fiery picture of Riri was displayed with the numbers "666." This was just after the two ended their relationship.
If you think that you can throw shade, I feel like you should probably take some lessons from Drake.
