5 Reasons Why Dj Khaled is the Best

Although Dj Khaled has been around the industry for many years it seemed as if 2016 was his best year by far. Aside from taking over Snapchat and producing popular hits (All I do is win, For Free) he has worked his way up from Orlando and has gained many fans through his charisma, optimism and expertise. Many of my friends know that I try my best to be optimistic and quote Khaled as much as I can.

Whether I am eating chocolates or tortillas I always ask for “another one.” Other times I hype my sister and I by saying “We the best” too. Regardless I always speak highly of Khaled and this is why:

1. Started from the bottom and now he is here:

His parents arrived from Palestine with nothing and did their best to support him in the city of Orlando. He made his way to Miami where he’d distribute his mix tape and worked his way into DJing in the popular nightclubs.

2. He is humble:

He is open about his life and work through his social media. Although other artists Snapchat their life, he really takes you into his and drops advice every chance he gets.

3. Optimistic/Motivating:

An obvious one here but he surpassed the struggle and encourages everyone else to get through the day with a positive attitude. He reassures you that he is the definite example of hard work and how you can make the impossible, possible.

4. Promotes education:

It was recently announced that he is going on a Snapchat tour to different universities in the country to show students what the universities they are applying to (out of state) look like and has partnered with the non-profit organizationGet Schooled to further encourage students to go to college.

5. Although successful, he does not stop working:

Khaled has “made it” but that has not stopped him. He keeps collaborating with various artists in and out of the studio. Whether it is writing a book or modeling Beats he keeps going.

From Jordan emojis to Ciroq Mango Khaled continues to grow more within the industry. As an entertainment enthusiast I believe he is one of the most influential artists for this generation. He managed to capture audiences’ attention through his hard work and wise words. He has “kept it real” too and has talked about the glamour and setbacks from his life.

Every time I hear or see Khaled, memes about him or hear his phrases it makes me laugh and smile. His story fascinates me too, not only because he was also a radio host like me (although I don’t DJ) but because I too am starting from the bottom in radio and entertainment in a major city. But his snaps and his Instagram posts motivates me to keep going and to NEVER give up.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
