I wake up every morning feeling absolutely blessed that I don’t have to go to a single building with 1300 teenagers at 8:30 in the morning. It’s honestly amazing. College is so much better than high school, and here are five reasons why.
1. Freedom
Having the ability to do, eat, watch, and sleep whatever/whenever... yes.
Now, just because you can do whatever doesn’t mean you should or necessarily have the time to... but at least you CAN. Ain’t nobody telling me to be back by 11 on a Tuesday.
2. Food
OK, so this one isn’t always true, because it’s getting real old eating Chick-fil-A for every meal (just kidding), but it’s still awesome to have so many choices all in walking distance. Plus, everyone is so stressed and sad all of the time, so food is a really great distraction.
3. Sleep
It’s true that you may not get a lot of this; after all, grades don’t make themselves, and all of your friends don’t care enough about your mental health to not drag you out the third night in a row, but still. You can walk to your room, nap for an hour, and go back to class. On the weekends? No mom’s nagging you about doing something with your day, so you can literally lie there for 10 hours. I love that.
4. Sports
LET'S GO!
But really, tailgating season (go pack!) is so much fun. Everyone goes much harder in college and actually has school spirit/cares. This scene is like nothing else and not even comparable to “Friday Night Lights” feat. select few participants in the student section theme and overpriced popcorn.
5. People
You get to leave the security of knowing everyone in your school and the names and life stories of every person in your class. You get to meet new people every day and make amazing, independent, whatever you want to do memories with them, and it’s awesome. People in college are ambitious and motivated, and also crazy and fun. It’s so cool to meet a diverse group of people who you never knew was missing from your life.
If you aren't in college yet, I hope you're excited! It will be the time of your life. If you are, take a moment to appreciate the fact that you aren't going to high school tomorrow.
