5 Reasons I Choose To Be A Ministry Major

The reaction I get for being a ministry major is not always the greatest. Here is why I am choosing to do it anyway.

When I made the choice to switch my major to Christian Ministries, I got a lot of different reactions. Many people immediately clammed up and felt the need to act different around me, for some reason. The second reaction is either excitement or criticism about how I will make a living. So, I decided I would make a list to show why I am choosing to go into ministry.

1. I feel called. I have felt called for a long time but was to afraid to take the step and actually do something about it. Making this decision was not easy for me, but I couldn't ignore where I felt God calling me to go. If I feel God pushing me in this direction, I am determined. I feel called, and I am very excited about it.

2. I feel his love. His love is unlike anything else. It is motivating when I feel beaten down. It is freedom when I am overwhelmed. It is answers when I am confused. God is love. Without him, it does not mean anything. He is purpose. He is the reason I want to work towards the purpose. He gets me to the purpose. He's awesome.

3. I feel supported. Yes, being called is the most important to me, but it is also really helpful to have a support system. A group of people who see your passion and push you to go for it. Without a group of amazing people, I would not have followed through with this decision.

4. I feel passion. Passion is an awesome word. My passion is for God and his amazing love. My passion is for sharing it with others. Not that I couldn't share his love if I had left my major or even dropped out, but God's voice of change and my passion for his awesomeness drive me to courage for this new journey.

5. I feel brave. I have been asked a lot how I can make a living with this major. Honestly, I do not know. I am not that worried right now. Although I do not know what I am doing, I do not have to. My bravery comes from me knowing I do not have to do anything but say "yes."

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out.
