5 Reasons To Choose footTech When Purchasing Running Shoes
footTech Lubbock

1. The shoes you put on your feet make all the difference!

One of the biggest problems surrounding runners is failure to run and train in the proper shoe. Believe it or not, you get what you pay for in a pair of running shoes. To each their own. Every runner sports a different pair of feet; those feet need different levels of support, cushioning, stability and much more. As runners, having healthy feet is an absolute necessity. Whether you're a marathoner, triathlete or a 5k stud, footTech has you covered. footTech organizes their massive variety of running shoes based on a four-prong support spectrum. The far left section contains the minimal section; these shoes are lightweight, have little to no support and are very common among 5k'ers and short distance runners. The next prong is the neutral section; these shoes are lightweight, have moderate support in the arch and every now and then have reduced forefoot flexion. Directly following is the support section; these are shoes that offer enhanced support throughout the arch, reduced forefoot flexion and are ideal for runners needing arch support without sacrificing speed. The last and final section is the control section; these shoes offer holistic support throughout the arch, stability in the heel-counter, enhanced protection for pronation/ supination and are ideal for runners needing 100% protection of the entire foot.

2. The staff at footTech are AMAZING!!

Whether you find yourself working with Angie, Sam, Tarik, Gavina, Brooke or Preston; THEY HAVE GOT YOUR FEET COVERED. Each employee at footTech is 100% knowledgeable on common foot ailments affecting runners and a few are runners themselves! Regardless, each employee works as part of a team; if one employee is unsure of a foot problem or solution, they will consult the entire team until the proper solution is found. footTech staff do not run on commission! That means whether they sell you a shoe or not, they are still getting the exact same paycheck. Take solace in the fact that when you consult footTech, their only goal is to ensure you leave with the proper shoes and a newfound excitement to hit the trails. Each employee sports adept knowledge on each and every pair of shoes that footTech carries; they even meet with sales reps bringing in new products, so they are 100% up-to-speed on the fine details of each shoe. These brands offered include: Brooks, Asics, Hoka One One, Altra, Topos and Merrell just to name a few. The footTech employees are 100% professional and respectful. Just as runners are part of a friendly and welcoming community; the footTech staff are part of that community as well.

3. footTech knows your foot better than you do.

When purchasing shoes at footTech you'll find that it is unlike any other running store you have ever been to. Unlike other stores where you google 'help me' forums for hours and hours the night before, go grab a box off the shelf the next day and pray for the best after a few miles; footTech takes the shoe buying process to the next level! At footTech the staff utilize a gate-analysis in order to fully analyze each and every individual customer's feet. The customer stands roughly 3 feet from an employee and that employee begins to study each and every detail of that customer's feet. The customer is then instructed to turn-around, walk about 10 steps forward, turn-around and then walk back towards the employee. During this time, the employee is watching your walk and looking for pronation/ supination, off-balance and any other details that provide knowledge as to the exact spot your feet belong on the support spectrum mentioned earlier. These are all ailments and foot problems that occur in a split second, and unless a trained eye is intently looking for them, they will go unnoticed. Problem is, those exact same ailments can cause MAJOR issues down the road (see what I did there? LOL). The last thing any runner needs is to reach mile 20 of a marathon only to find out they need support in their shoes...

Both times are packed with the coolest of people, all of which are super nice and welcoming! The run itself is a 6 mile course that starts at the front door of footTech, trails around back through Greek Circle, twists and winds throughout Texas Tech University and then goes right back to the store itself. There are designated turn-arounds for those whose workout calls for 1, 2 and 4 mile runs rather than the full 6 miles. Each group has members of all experience levels, so do not be worried about running on your own! I guarantee you'll find someone running the same pace as you any given Saturday. GET THIS, each time participants run, they fill out a raffle ticket for a drawing at the end of the run. The prizes range from socks to accessories, and whenever you don't win your ticket is still put towards the BIG KAHUNA at the end of every month, a brand new pair of shoes!! I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
