6 Reasons You Don't Want a Big Dog
Cheryl Detamore

Big dogs seem to have gotten such a bad rep over the years, and that is at no fault of their own. Due to dog fighting, many people think that they are mean and attack people. While some might have had a bad start in life, once they find the right home they can be a whole different dog. I know big dogs can be intimidating, but that's just on the outside! Whatever happened to don't read a book by its cover? While we do love little dogs, this is all about the big ones. Here are 6 reasons you don't want a big dog... 6 reasons you need a big dog.

1. They are your big scary protector dog.

Vicious right? No...not at all. Do you want a big baby? Get a big dog! Even though they are big babies, they will protect their family until the end. You are members of their pack, and they want to protect their pack.

2. They beg... but they're cute about it.

Yeah, not many of us like to deal with begging, and we even scold our dogs for it but... just look at that face. How could you say no to that face? When big dogs beg, their head is most likely right near your plate. This sometimes leads to stolen food. Note to self, don't fall for that face. The dog is going to grab your pizza and run with it. If they are going to be bad, at least they look cute doing it... right?

3. The best cuddle buddy ever!

Okay... when it comes to the Dobe in this picture, you have a great example of why they are the best cuddle buddy. Who wouldn't want to curl up next to a big ole' ball of fur? Don't deny it, you can't really "cuddle" with a small dog. If the dog is the size of your head, then what is there to wrap your arms around?

4. They talk to you... or, at least, mine does.

They might not be able to speak English, but they definitely can speak. You better not forget to feed them or you are probably going to need some ear plugs. If they want something, they let you know, and they'll talk your ear off.

5. Your comfort is their first priority... Just kidding.

Like I said earlier, big dogs are great cuddle buddies... when they are where you want them. They will take up your bed. Mine sleeps with me and by the time I wake up, I'm at the edge. They also tend to think that they are small, and so they think they can be a lap dog. Yes, a lap dog. They will crawl on top of you and they will sit down. It's funny at first... until you can't feel your legs. This is okay, though, because they are our babies.

6. They don't take up a little space... They take up a lot of space!

Don't have much furniture? House look bare? Problem solved. Having a big dog is like another piece of furniture. Well, except they move and sometimes they will run you over without even noticing. But then again, that's okay because they are our babies!

Everyone who has a big dog knows that they are a necessity. What would you do without them? They are your buddy and they will love you forever. We also all know that there is so many more reasons that big dogs are wonderful. This is just a taste of the reasons you need one... you'll have to get one to find out the rest.

Thanks to everyone who sent me a picture of your big dog. Unfortunately, I could not use them all! Trust me if I could've I would've.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
