I always get the question “Why do you want to become a teacher?” Here are 5 reasons why becoming a teacher is what I want to do with my life.

1) It is life changing

Imagine walking into a room with 20 little heads turned towards you. You become the person who they look to for help. You become the one who helps decide their future, you help create a better future. It's amazing when you start teaching you to know kids who are struggling to maybe read or do the math, but then by the end of the year they can do their multiplication and read books. It is the most satisfying and rewarding job.

2) It’s a job that is always needed.

Teaching will never go out of style. Kids always need to learn, and that is what we are there for. We take kids for 7 hours a day and make sure they learn what they need to learn to have a successful future. Teaching is one of those jobs that as long as people are coming into this world the job will keep going.

3) My teachers changed my life

I have multiple teachers who have changed my life. My second grade teacher gave me the help I needed when she saw me fall behind, my fourth grade teacher was one of the most kind people I have ever met. My sixth grade math teacher helped me become the strong math student I am today. My high school Child psych teacher changed my life the most, she helped me realize my passion for teaching, and I can never thank her enough.

4) You get out of it what you put into it

Teaching is a job where if you care, so will your students. All of my teachers that cared about me were the ones I remember. If you work hard to make sure your students learn what they need to learn and learn how they need to learn, then you will always see some sort of success.

5) You end up learning more from your students then they learn from you

I have done some work with children, I learned so much from my experiences. What I learned the most was patience and kindness. Don't get me wrong I am a kind person, but seeing kids be kind in the most simple ways showed me how easy it is. Patience is obvious, when you are working with four year old's you have to be patient.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
