5 Reasons why Bassnectar has the best community in electronic music
Mass EDM

Go to any Bassnectar show and you’ll find yourself immediately submerged in a whole new universe. Translating his endless curiosity and versatility into hypnotic beats and vibrant tracks, Lorin Ashton aka Bassnectar constantly generates new sounds, providing clarity and direction to his massive legion of fans who dedicate most of their time wilding out and traveling the country for his music.

One of electronic music's most dedicated communities, these bass-fiends thoughtfully named "Bassheads", live out their own unique version of underground communication on the daily - constantly searching (and achieving) the answers for life's journey through Bassnectar’s authentic freestyle music. But what makes Bassheads so unique? Here are 5 out of the many reasons why the Bassnectar community is – undeniably - the best community in electronic music.

1- The literal sense of community at a Bassnectar show is unquestionable. Although every person in the room is there to rage and let go, everyone is also on a 24-hour duty to take care of each other. The constant care for one another, even if you don’t know the person next to you at all – is unparalleled. And this is when all the magic happens. Bassnectar collects people from all over the place and just ties them together with music, a bond strong enough for everyone to look at each other as family. Going to a Bassnectar show is like opening a gift on Christmas morning. Every. Damn. Time. And most times, that gift comes in the form of bringing people together you may not ever meet otherwise.

2- The energy is stellar. Literally. It feels like your mind is on a spaceship with everyone around you on the same ride at light speed toward a solar system of divine bliss. And as everyone vibes in the same frequency, the whole room is filled with the kind of empathy that allows every single person to see the world in a new, vital way. You feel the most human you will ever feel at a Bassnectar show and not only because it feels extremely right, but because you are sharing that connection with people with the same mindset as yours.

3- Bassheads are the most open minded people you will ever meet. Maybe because Lorin himself is so versatile and open to diversity, Bassheads also embody that ethos. It doesn't matter what background you're from, you will be thoroughly accepted in the Basshead community, no matter what. Always exploring and accepting all sorts of weirdness, Bassheads are pros at expanding and trading values, beliefs and feelings in an entirely positive, natural way.

4- Bassheads understand, accept, and preach the concept of balance. Sure, ridiculously heavy wobbles in your face are always fun (really, they are too fun) but there’s nothing more delightful than some melodic downtempo sounds that make you travel inside your own mind, body and spirit. A Bassnectar show is always a ride, you get breathless during the chaos but as you capture the vitality and energy of your surroundings, you also get your mind flooded with a new found appreciation of what you do have – whether a lot or a little, it all seems to be enough.

5- They do it, entirely, for the music. In a scene portrayed as an excessive partying & drugs clutter, the Basshead community is one of the only who purely do it for the love of music. During a show get ready for a mental rollercoaster surrounded by bass, spirit, and acceptance.

And as you join the journey, you will understand that being a Bassnectar fan is reaching out to music to interpret your own problems, its bursting out of all the negativity and in turn - falling head first into all of those things that gives us the chills and make us addiiiiiicted.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
