Basketball season is just about to kick off in full swing and honestly, I could not be more excited. This year MSU has one of the best recruiting classes under Tom Izzo and very good upper classmen who have their work cut out for them considering how last season ended.
5. Tum Tum
I love Tum Tum, he is probably one of my favorite players on the team and I think he is what Michigan State Basketball stands for. He brings great energy, leadership and excitement to the floor and brings his teammates up with him. He is also probably one of our best defense of players and the toughest. However, I am interested to see how his shooting game came along over the summer because everyone knows he is not really a shooter and to be a point guard, you need to kind of be able to shoot.
4. Eron Harris
Last year Eron was kind of out shinned by Bryn and Valentine, but this guy can shoot and he has really came a long way on his defense. He needs to have a big year on both ends of the court. We lost a lot of talent and passion last year so he has to step up. I would not be surprised if he is the guy we go to for a big play or shot to win the game.
3. Student Section
Everyone knows that the Michigan State Student section is one of the worst student sections to play against. After the first exhibition game, the student section was loud and proud letting everyone know that there will not be a loss in the Breslin this year because we will be the sixth man. We have a lot of pride and a lot of disappointment when we want to make of for through this season.
2. The Freshman
Everyone knows we have an outstanding freshman class that honestly could do great things. After the first exhibition game where Myles Bridges put up 33 points, I came to the realization of how much talent we have gained from these freshman. We are not a school known to have such a huge recruiting class but these guys could potentially start all together and that is kind of unheard of in the Michigan State Izzo era. My biggest fear is that these Freshman are going to have a great season and leave us to go into the NBA.
1. The Schedule
This is one of the toughest non-conference schedules that Izzo has ever seen. To begin the season with Arizona, Kansas, Duke and potentially Louisville is just a really tough start. So it could either be a really good start and proving that MSU is going to have a fantastic season or it is really going to show that MSU has some work to do before conference play. But I think either way it is going to be a very exciting time of Basketball.
