1. Customers Will Take Bad Days Out On Staff.
No matter what is said or done, if a customer has had a bad day, there's a good chance they'll take it out on you. Even if you made a small mistake by not refilling their water quick enough, they're going to be rude. The best thing to do is to just stay calm and apologize.
Servers do not make minimum wage. Most of the time, your server works 10-12 hours a day while getting paid only $5.00 per hour. Servers rely on the tips they make in a day more than an actual paycheck. Tipping 20% from your bill is the perfect amount to tip a server.
3. The Kitchen Staff Can Be Rude.
Working in a restaurant is hard, but it's even worse when the kitchen staff is rude. Everyone understands that working in a kitchen is hard work and is sometimes very stressful, but if a server has to come back with complaints from a table, the kitchen staff shouldn't get mad at the server. If you don't pick up an order fast enough, get ready to be yelled at.
4. Coworkers Won't Pick Up Shifts.
In a time of an emergency, there is a good chance a coworker will not pick up your shift unless they are bribed. No one wants to go into work on a day off, but it's even worse when you really cannot go into work and no one will cover for you.
5. You Will Amazing Friends.
Spending long hours with the same people almost 7 days a week, they start to become the best of friends you'll ever meet. Despite all the bad times that you can have at work, they are always there for you no matter what. Even if one of them leave, you will always stay in touch.
