1. It takes over half the season to differentiate Chandler and Joey.
Two roommates, Chandler and Joey keep popping in and out of scenes and it takes a while to remember which is which. One is an actor. One works a desk job. Other than that, it seems impossible to remember which one acts as the “blonde” guy of the group and which is always getting with Janice. By the end of the season, I think I’ve got it down, and I have to say I am completely in Chandler’s corner.
2. Makes you remember why you always wanted an apartment with your best friend.
The whole show is these six people constantly popping in and out of each other’s days and apartments. It makes me remember why I always wanted to get an apartment with my sister and/or best friend when we grew up. We wanted it to be exactly like that. Laughing at each other’s dates, slumber parties for no reason, and I guess the occasional boyfriend bonfire.
3. I appreciate Jennifer Aniston as an actress way more now.
I’m used to seeing Aniston in some great movies like Bruce Almighty, He’s Just Not That Into You, or The Switch where she plays the role of a strong, empowered woman, and that is the role I have always associated with her. But from the beginning, she starts off as the spoiled brat, and a little ditzy when it comes to the real world. Her character, Rachel, is funny to watch and as she grows in the show you can really see how Aniston has such a wide skill set when it comes to acting.
4. The theme song is in my head for about three hours after I watch the show.
I’m trying to go to sleep after binging the show for three hours and all I can here is “Your jobs a joke, your broke, your love life’s D.O.A.” I love the song and by the third episode I was badly singing along, even if it did take a few goes to figure out the D.O.A. part.
5. You have to laugh at yourself…and your friends.
The best part of the show is how merciless these friends can be. They constantly make fun of each other’s boyfriends, mock bad haircuts, and just laugh at any and all embarrassing moments. That is how these people are friends—they aren’t afraid to tell it like it is. Yet, they also know when to draw the line as they all take care of each other. Monica lets Rachel move in the very first episode, and it sets the precedent for the show as they all watch out for each other every way that counts. That is what gives the show its name. Can’t wait to see when the rest of the seasons hold.
