If you're like me and overthinking is like breathing for you, then you know how stressful it can be. You overthink the way someone said a certain thing to you. Or even worse, you overthink things that WERE NOT even said to you. Often times people just say to "stop overthinking everything," but unfortunately it's easier said than done. So if you're trying to ease your over working brain, take a look at these quotes that may help calm you down and gain some perspective.

1. “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” – Albert Einstein

2. “If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.” – Bruce Lee

3.“Take time to deliberate, but when the time for action comes, stop thinking and go in.” – Napoléon Bonaparte

4.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation, but you thoughts about it. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking.” – Eckhart Tolle

5.“Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.” — Ray Bradbury

Just like the Buddha said, "What we think, we become." Sometimes it's hard to get out of your own head and let things just happen how they are going to. Overthinking is one of the most tiring and unproductive things that I experience. Being able to read quotes like this and reflect on them instead of the same thought, helps to break away form it and focus on something positive. For those of you that overthink, you're not silly or damaged, we must simply find a way to channel these thoughts into something else. What helps you when you're stuck in your own head?

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
