One of my absolute favorite pastimes is online shopping; but I've quickly found that buying certain products online can often be a big mistake.
1. Used technology.
It's always smartest to buy your technology new. Buying used technology can often to a client paying more for a product than it's worth and often times the technology is not up to date or even functional. Client's are often expected to pick up the product from the seller personally, which, needless to say, can often be dangerous.
2. Shoes.
Buying shoes online is quite the gamble. Not only do you not have the advantage of trying them on in person and walking around in them, but it is not uncommon for a buyer to receive a different sized shoe, a different colored shoe, or a completely different shoe altogether. Shoe sizes also vary depending on the maker, so even if you are normally one size, you may find the shoe doesn't fit as well as it could if you bought it in the store.
3. Prescription drugs.
Online pharmacies are known for selling medicine for higher prices than in walk-in drug stores. Prices are often incredibly inflated and buyers pay much more for already expensive drugs. As well as this, some online pharmacies can be very untrustworthy and it is dangerous to buy a medication from an unaccredited site.
4. Make-up.
Make-up, like shoes, is another product that you should buy in person. Testing colors on your own skin tone, spritzing perfume before purchasing, or trying a shadow to see if you like it are all benefits that one doesn't receive when purchasing make-up online.
5. Pets.
I have a lot of friends and family who search for pets online. Although you can set up meet and greet appointments, you are required to meet the dog with the owner. Needless to say, this can be incredibly dangerous. Many people also report that they feel obligated to purchase a dog that they meet after going to all the trouble to meet the dog and it's current owner. It is strongly recommended that one goes to a shelter to browse through and make a selection safely and happily.
