These 5 Products Will Help You Stay Fit During The Holidays

The leaves are falling, pumpkin spice is in the air, sweater weather is slowly approaching, and we all know...

Cold weather can be unmotivating as you struggle to keep up that beach bod you worked so hard to build. Netflix in your bed may seem like a good idea at the moment, but tomorrow your body will not be thanking you. As you seek motivation to be your best self, here are five products that are sure to turn those healthy chores into lifestyle changes you’ll actually enjoy.

1. Hint Water - The Best Way to Stay Hydrated

Switch out the soda and sugary beverages for a healthy alternative. My current obsession is Hint Water. It’s deliciously flavored that has 0 sugar, 0 diet sweeteners, 0 calories, 0 bad things- just 100% amazing. Switch out those unhealthy beverages for something that will satisfy your sweet tooth without dissatisfying your stomach. And, if you’re like me and need a little kick in the morning, Hint also has fizz and caffeinated waters!

The folks at Hint are offering Odyssey readers a 50% discount on their acclaimed Mega Pack. That’s $30 + free shipping for their 3 top flavors – just follow this link and use the code MEGAPACK at checkout!

2. Nutribullet - For Fast, Healthy Meals

Waking up 10 minutes before your class, not having time to grab breakfast, and then ending up with a growling stomach in class only to go to the dining hall after and feast— we’ve all been through it. Adding a Nutribullet to your room is definitely a good investment. Keep your fridge stocked with some milk (or coconut milk for a healthy alternative) and some frozen berries to blend yourself up a fast breakfast in 10 seconds. Say goodbye to unhealthy binging, and hello to yummy morning smoothies (or even acai bowls)!

3. Seven App - Simple Workouts

If you’re having trouble sneaking workouts in on your own, there are many apps on the market that make working out SO easy. I love the app Seven, it curates an intense workout for a certain part of your body in only seven minutes- meaning you don’t have to spend a whole lot of time to work even just a little bit on those abs. If you have a crazy busy schedule like I do, a solid workout app will motivate you to stay in shape. **Bonus: On Seven, you can choose different trainer voices to guide you through the workout- the scary military voice motivates me the most!

4. Apple Watch (Or Any Fitness Band) - To Track Fitness Goals

As silly as an accessory may seem, technology and fashion know no bounds. A fitness band motivates you to get your steps in and remain active to reach your daily goal. I love my Apple Watch, but there are cheaper substitutes on the market from Fitbit to Target that have similar fitness purposes. Personally, I love filling up the colored circles on my Apple Watch and if that’s enough to keep me active, then so be it!

5. Goals

This isn’t as much of a product as it is a principle. Set goals, make plans, stick to them. Consistency is key! We all have stressful weeks, but if you are not consistent with your workouts you aren’t doing much for yourself. Apps like Fitbod, GymBook or SideKick are both useful and easy to use and help you keep track of your workouts. The simple and appealing interfaces of these trackers and logs make the dreadful activity of working out just that much more enjoyable, and if you love color you might even find yourself putting in extra hours.

While minimal, making small changes in your daily life from the beverages you drink to the technology you utilize makes a huge difference. It’s 2017, I am able to measure my heartbeat on my wrist, and drinking water actually excites me. We are living the future- and you have no excuse to not be taking advantage of all the products that exist to ensure you remain the healthiest you can be. What are you waiting for?

Toilet Troubles

"So, usually I would never go on a Tinder date but when you are out with girlfriends and a hot Bosnian guy says he wants to hang with you and his friends, you oblige. We head to their apartment and when I realized I may pee my pants if I don't find a bathroom soon. I ask for the bathroom and a friend of my tinder date shows me to it and said in all seriousness that I was not allowed to flush the toilet under ANY circumstances. Having a few drinks--or five--I relieved myself to, nevertheless, flush the toilet. Within seconds, his bathroom was flooded and towels were laid out everywhere to catch the toilet water. To say the least, we were not invited back"

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.
