I'm proud that I don't go tanning and that I am pale because I choose to be (for the most part). However, when it come to the summer months, being pale can cause some issues due to the intense sun and outdoor activities. This list is my way of making a joke of the problems I have to deal with in the summer because of my pale skin and I hope those of you who also have fair skin can relate to these problems.
1. Having to put on sunscreen whenever you go outside.
It doesn't matter how long you are outside or how cloudy it may seem, you get burned if you step outside without sunscreen on an have to reapply it to ensure you don't look like a lobster at the end of the day.
2. Wearing the same shade of foundation that you wear in the winter.
For those who wear makeup, if you have fair skin that doesn't change shades, you can wear the same shade of foundation year round. Your skin doesn't get any lighter or darker because of the sun so you don't need to worry about your face not matching your body.
3. Saying you have a slight tan when you are just a shade of pink.
When you do go outside and think that your skin looks a little darker when in reality is just a shade of pink that will go away in the next few hours.
4. Avoiding going to the pool because you need to put sunscreen on your whole body.
Since most of the year your paleness is covered up by clothing, the summer sun is dangerous for your fair skin. You wouldn't dream of going to the pool without sunscreen on and since the process of putting it on takes so long, you just don't bother and stay inside.
5. Wearing pants and long-sleeves even when it is warm out.
You do this to avoid having to put sunscreen on your legs and arms because anything to save time and sunscreen during the summer is key.
