With all the negative news in the world lately, we could use some good, here are five positive stories.

All you see in the world today is negative news. It seems people cannot escape the reality of what is happening. It has taken a toll on humanity and people are demanding answers and refuge. When the world is falling apart all you can do is stand together, be a decent human being and support each other. Since every article on the news and media lately is negative, lets shed some light in this dark world with five positive news stories.

1. Giant Panda is no longer extinct!

It is true! The Giant Panda status has been changed from endangered to vulnerable according to the Red List of Threatened Species. The Giant Panda, which is coincidentally a symbol for conservation had a 17% rise, counting 1864 pandas roaming in China. China actually has 67 panda reserves, making a positive/contributing difference in the world.

2. World Hunger has reached its lowest point in 25 years!

In 1990 according to the Global Hunger Index, 17 countries level of hunger was, "extremely alarming" now in 2015 the number has been reduced to only eight nations. Although, we still have a long way to go, the smallest changes can end up making the biggest difference.

3. Canada has protected 85% of the Great Bear Rainforest!

The worlds largest temperate rainforest will be protected from logging (cutting trees for sale) according to an agreement made by the timber industry, environmental activists, first nations and the British Colombian government. This has been an on going battle for years and now this area that is around 21 million acres will have 85% of it protected.

4. Ocean Cleanup plans to launch project in 2020 to start the Pacific Cleanup!

Boyan Slat was only 16 years old at the time he realized how much plastic is in the ocean. He did some research and created a concept presenting it at a Ted Talk which eventually launched into: The Ocean Cleanup. Currently there are five TRILLION pieces of plastic in todays ocean. This company plans to launch its first project in 2020 to clean the Pacific Ocean. This site: https://www.theoceancleanup.com/ has all the details on what is being done and when.

5. India planted 50 million trees!

On July 11th, 2016 over 800,000 volunteers planted 50 million trees in 24 hours. This was a strong fighting move against climate change. India made a commitment at the, Paris Climate Conference in December 2015. India had agreed to spend six billion to reforest 12% of its land. With contributions like this to society, humans are showing humanity.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
