5 Places You Can Pray

You can pray anywhere, for anyone.

5 Places You Can Pray
passion4people.org

I haven’t ever been good at praying. For a long time, I didn’t even know what to pray for. Do I pray for myself? Do I pray for everyone else? How does God know what to do when we pray for someone? All of these questions I had before I started praying every day. I won’t even brag about praying every day because I forget often. I try not to forget, but I do forget to pray. I forget to thank the man upstairs. How could someone forget to do that? It takes two seconds, but it hasn’t always been a priority. I can remember to charge my phone each night, but at least once a week I forget to pray.

At church, prayer is always important but it wasn’t always important to me. Now, I understand why people pray at dinner, why people pray in the morning, why they pray randomly when they are having a rough day. I have been trying to become one of those people. One of those people that can turn to prayer as their answer.

I am aware that I am a work in progress. I work hard at trying to pray, and sometimes I just forget. I am trying to pray in the shower, but once I get soap in my eye I forget. I try to pray before I fall asleep, but once my head hits the pillow I fall asleep. Lately, I’ve been successful at praying on my way to work. After much trial and error, I have noticed sometimes that are easier to remember to pray.

1. In the car.

It does not matter where you are going, but when you are in the car you have some time to think. Whether it be a 5-minute car ride or 20, you can send up a quick little prayer. Listening to a Christian radio station normally reminds me to pray.

2. On the way to work.

Some days work can be stressful, and while you are on your way to work you already know it is going to be a rough day. Whether it be a holiday or you are having issues at work, send up a prayer for strength and understanding.

3. Right when you wake up.

It is never a bad idea to read the bible and then pray first thing in the morning. You can start your day off on the right foot by spending some time with the Lord.

4. At church, duh.

At church you get to set aside time for prayer. You can really focus and turn to those around you. While you are praying, if you have any questions your pastor is right there ready to answer them.

5. While you are grocery shopping.

Grocery shopping is not a hard task, and it can take some time. While you are walking around the store, say a prayer. You do not have to say it out loud to the point that people think you are talking to yourself, you can do it in your head.

No matter where you are or what you are doing, you can always send up a prayer. It is OK to forget, but as long as you are trying.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
