5 Places I Wish I Visited During Spring Break
Hello Masti

As I reflect on what I did for Spring Break I find myself highly disappointed that I wasn’t able to go anywhere extravagant or travel to some faraway land and come back with an enriching tale. Instead, I mostly laid in bed and tried to force my way through the enormous amount of work left to me by my professors. Though, this didn’t stop my imagination from coming up with detailed stories and things I would do if I had visited these beautiful locations. So here are five places I imagined I visited over Spring Break.

1. Scotland

From the moment the first “Harry Potter” movie was released I found that I was obsessed with the idea of visiting Scotland and immersing myself into the beautiful atmosphere and dynamics there. The first place I would start is in Edinburgh. I would explore the stunning landscape and Gothic architecture that can be found there. Compare the vestige of Old town to the architecture found in New Town. I wouldn’t stay in an expensive hotel or anything similar, not just because I don’t have the money, rather, I’d find myself staying in B&B’s so I could interact with the people and the truly integrate myself into the culture.

Next, I’d go to Glasgow. There I’d definitely try to get into the night scene. The immense music culture that is found there is probably just second to that of the U.S. and the deep fried pizza sounds pretty good too. Lastly, I’d visit Aberdeen. As a mellow person who would love to just take a hike or get away from the crowds, Aberdeen is the perfect place to have a peaceful moment to yourself and forget about anything that may be troubling you.

2. London

The first thing I’d actually do once arriving in London would be to try the tea and see what all the fuss is about. Though, after that, I’d head right over to Buckingham Palace to try and make one of the Queen’s Guards laugh. A little childish, I know, but what can I say it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Then, I would check out the club scene, Proud Camden or the Roof Gardens, as it is probably known as one of the most iconic places in the world to party. Last, I would travel to the Portobello Road Market, Westminster Abbey, and finally Piccadilly Circus.

3. Italy

I’m not going to lie. My main attraction to Italy is the food. How can you not want to go to Italy and try the amazing cuisine served there? Besides this truly enticing factor, the architecture and culture found in Italy are truly one of a kind. I would most likely spend most of my time in Rome, visiting the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and of course the Colosseum.

4. Brazil

Besides going to Brazil to see the amazing culture, beaches and people. I can’t help but be a bit basic when I say one of the main attractions pulling me there is going to the Brazilian Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.

5. Florida

Last, but definitely not least, I’d like to visit Florida, if only to satisfy the inner child in me by finally going to Disney World and Orlando Studios. There is no force on this earth that could keep me from going to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
