From the mountains to our coast North Carolina is packed full of bucket list worthy sites. Here a just a few of these places that are defiantly worth the trip.
1. Sliding Rock- Brevard NC.
Sliding Rock is a natural water slide located in the North Carolina mountains. The slide is 60 feet long with a six-foot-deep pool at the bottom full of cool mountain water.

2. Reed Gold Mine- Midland NC
A little-known fact, the first gold rush in the U.S. was here in North Carolina. Reeds gold mine is the first documented site of gold found in the U.S. Here, you can take a tour of the tunnels that miners used to dig for the gold that put our state in the lead of gold production in 1848.
Cost: Free tours, $3 gold panning.
3. The Mile High Swinging Bridge- Grandfather Mountain NC.
This stop is not for those who scare easy, with a bridge suspended 228 feet in the air between an 80-foot chasm. This bridge gives views like none other.
Cost: $9-$20
4. Jockey's Ridge- Nags Head NC.
One of the only spots in North Carolina where you can watch a sunset into a large body of water. Jokey's Ridge is the tallest active sand dune system on the coast of the eastern U.S. This is also a popular kite flying destination.
Cost: Free.
5. Ocracoke Island- Ocracoke NC.
For all the history buffs out there, come visit a favorite island of one of the most feared Pirates; Blackbeard. Here, you can see the place where the fearsome pirate met his fate in an intense battle. There is an exhibit where you can see some of Blackbeard's belongings he had with him that day.
Cost: Free to visit the island, small fee for the exhibit.
