Do you go to school at SUNY Oneonta, Hartwick College, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Delhi, etc.? Are you sick of doing the same thing every weekend? Switch it up with some of these great ideas!

1. Howe Caverns

Located in Cobleskill, NY Howe Caverns is the second most visited natural attraction in New York after Niagara Falls. The $25 tour lasts about an hour and a half. You take an elevator that travels 16 stories underground where the cave tours are given and then you take a boat ride in the cave's lake, The Lake of Venus. Afterwards if you are hungry, I would recommend Justine's, which is a great Italian restaurant located in downtown Cobleskill.

2. Cooperstown

Obviously, Cooperstown is a great place to go if you are interested in baseball. Cooperstown is home to The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. What most people do not know is that there is more to Cooperstown than just baseball. There is also a well known art museum, called Fenimore Art Museum, and the Farmer's Museum. Cooperstown is located on Glimmerglass Lake, also known as Ostego Lake. Glimmerglass State Park has nature trails, swimming, and you can also going boating or fishing. Cooperstown is also a great place to go window shopping downtown, grab a delicious cup of joe at one of the many cafes, or go out to eat.

3. Gilbert Lake State Park

Located about 25 minutes from SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College, Gilbert Lake State Park, located in Laurens, NY, is a fantastic place to go for an afternoon of nature filled fun. While in season Gilbert Lake has open swimming with a lifeguards on duty, kayak and row boat rentals, and a snack bar. While in season the vehicle entrance fee is $7. Gilbert Lake is open to the public year around and also has a bunch of hiking trails around the lake.

4. Go to the movies, roller skating/lazer tagging, or bowling in Oneonta.

Need to get off campus? Oneonta has a movie theater, roller rink, and bowling alley. These are some of the many cheap things to do in Oneonta on the weekend.

5. The Hollow

The Hollow is a concert venue located in Albany, NY. Almost every week they have different semi-well known bands come and preform. The tickets usually are not more then $30, but usually less. I went there last March and saw one of my favorite indie rock bands: Ra Ra Riot. It was a ton of fun, cheap, and only about an hour and twenty minutes from Oneonta.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
