As a freshman at any school, it's easy to develop a set routine and stay close to campus. However, NC State has tons of great things to do outside of Dan Allen! Here are some spots that every NC State student should visit.
1. Hunt Library.
NC State's second library, located on Centennial Campus, is a study hub that is home to innovation that will blow you away. From tech tools to help you study and the library's contemporary feel, Hunt Library is a place that shouldn't be missed.
Bonus tip for freshman: You don't need a car to get to Hunt! The Wolfline bus system provides multiple buses that can take you from main campus to Centennial in around 10 minutes.
2. Cameron Village.
Looking for a great place to eat, shop, or hang out? Cameron Village has dozens of restaurants, boutiques, a grocery store, and coffee shops. This shopping center provides a great place to get away from campus and hang out.
Bonus tip for freshmen: Cameron Village is within walking distance from campus and a great place to take your parents when they come visit!
3. Carter Finley Stadium.
Saturdays spent at Carter Finley are an NC State student's favorite activity. Hearing the band play the fight song, seeing Mr. and Mrs. Wuf, and watching the sunset over a packed football stadium can make anyone's heart swell.
Bonus tip for freshmen: Transportation is key. The Wolfline offers buses to and from Carter Finley, and taking a cab or an Uber rather than waiting for a bus is often a good idea!
4. University Tutorial Center.
The University Tutorial Center is a great place to get a little extra help with your classes, resume, or anything else that students often forget to take advantage of. Students help other students excel in their classes, and the tutors are helpful no matter what subject you're struggling in.
Bonus tip for freshmen: Utilizing the UTC is a key to academic success. Just do it!
5. Downtown Raleigh.
NC State students are lucky enough to have a campus that is just outside the city. Downtown Raleigh offers amazing restaurants, nightlife, and shops. Raleigh has so much to offer!
Bonus tip for freshmen: plan out your day well before you go downtown! The bus schedule can be found online so you aren't left waiting at the stop.
