As Spring finally hits Michigan State's campus, it's not only the weather that's heating up, but the students as well. MSU was recently ranked by College Magazine as one of the top ten schools for falling in love. Michigan State has almost a perfect girl to guy ratio, but no matter what gender you prefer, there's definitely a Spartan out there for you. Since the campus is so large and 40,000 undergraduates attend MSU, it might be a little hard to find your perfect match, but this campus does have some great places were you can meet your special someone. And then, your sappy Spartan love story can begin. Here are some places you can meet your significant other here at Michigan State:
1. Spartan Stadium/The Breslin Center
Sports man, sports. MSU is a powerhouse in football and basketball, and nothing brings people together quite like yelling at the ref or celebrating a touchdown. The Izzone and the student section are great places to meet people who are passionate about Michigan State Athletics and/or just love to tailgate. High fives and singing the fight song together can turn into getting someone's number or even a date. So next time you're at a sporting event, keep your eyes peeled for Mr./Mrs. Right.
2. Burgerama
A Spartan's favorite day is Thursday. Okay, I made that up, but we all know that once you're 21+, you strategically plan your schedule so you can be in line at least an hour early outside of The Riv to get cheap pitchers of beer and burgers. Food and beer are great ice breakers. I think if you buy anyone a burger (which you finally can afford to thanks to this awesome deal), they'll be very happy. Okay, some people are vegetarians or vegans, and in that case maybe skip the burger, but Rama is a great place to find some fun humans in a casual setting. And if you get there a little late, you can also meet people in line while you wait for 3 hours to get in.
3. Brody Caf (or any Caf)
The way a person piles food on their tray tells you a lot about who they are. That's why cafeterias are a great place to find your second love, because your first love will always be food. If you're active and healthy, maybe find a salad lover like yourself. If you're obsessed with ice cream and brownies (I fall into this category) find yourself a sweetie with a sweet tooth. I don't recommend approaching someone with a mouth full of food, but maybe after the meal you can strike up a conversation about what kind of milk you each prefer or about how the freshman 15 came in like a wrecking ball. The caf has a lot of choices and so do you! That sounded kind of creepy, but you know what I mean.
4. The Main Library
With the Beaumont Tower right outside, love is always in the air at the library. Lots of stress and studying fills the library, but it's still a great place to meet some study buddies and see who is actually motivated enough to come to the lib. Being smart is sexy, people. So hit the books and meet other studious Spartans that are getting degrees and looking for a date. Love isn't always "textbook", but you can start there. ;)
5. BASICALLY ANYWHERE
Spartan Nation is such an amazing group of people, you can honestly connect with anyone anywhere. Whether it be at a club meeting, Greek life event, or a group project, there are so many opportunities to meet the person of your dreams or your best friend. Everyone here is laid back and just looking to have fun with their peers and learn along the way. If you haven't found love yet, don't be discouraged; you've got a lot of time. Do college right and eat some crack fries at HopCat or go throw some bagels in Cedar Village. Enjoy it, meet tons of people, and the pieces will all fall into place. It helps that you go to such an amazing college though, because even though Spartans are tough, vicious warriors, we also have a soft caring side, too. Find a person that can do both, right?
