I have always loved to travel. Finding new places to explore, things to see, people to meet. I have always had a fascination with places that aren’t my home. I love that feeling of getting lost in a city I’ve never been, and finding out different things about myself. I have traveled to many different places, here are 5 cities I believe everyone needs to see at least once:

1. Orlando, FL

Orlando is very well known for Disneyworld, obviously. Basically being the Mickey Mouse Capital has a lot of advantages and disadvantages. I personally don’t like feeling like the places I travel are touristy, even though I am a tourist in them. Orlando is the most tourist town I have ever seen. You can tell that a majority of the people that were there, did not live there. The most obvious perk of Orlando is Disneyworld. I had never been there until I was 16, and still had so much fun! I really believe everyone needs to go to Disneyworld at least once in their lifetime. There is always something going on in Orlando and always places just outside to visit. It is a very wonderful place to experience. After all, it is home to the happiest place on Earth.

2. Panama City Beach, FL

PCB is very well known for being a spring break spot for high school and college students. It is normally only talked about for the parties, however, I think this city is really great. It’s even one of my dad’s favorite vacations we’ve gone on! There is so much to do. There are many places to shop, and lots of places to eat. There is a beautiful beach, with a boardwalk not too far from most of the hotels. I watched so many amazing sunsets in PCB. Whether it’s for spring break or just a family vacation, I think this is a great destination for anyone!

3. Las Vegas, NV

Going to Vegas while you aren’t 21 can sound pretty boring, but this city has a lot to see besides the casinos. There are mountains all around the city, watching the sunset is beautiful. All of the shops to walk around, there’s souvenir shops, lots of food, and some very interesting places to people watch. All of the casinos and hotels are amazing to look at and walk through, they all are built beautifully. Of course, there is always the Las Vegas sign that you have to take a picture with! Even being under 21 can be fun in Vegas!

4. San Diego, CA

I was always someone that dreamed of going to California, and when it happened it was just the way I thought it would be. San Diego is exactly like every little beach town you see in movies. We stayed on Mission Beach, which is just outside of downtown San Diego, and it was beautiful. A couple blocks away from the beach was a strip with many surf shops, a great pizza place, and the cutest coffee shop. Walking the beach at night was unreal, you could see the souvenir shops and clubs up and down the coast, you saw people riding skateboards and rollerblading everywhere. About a mile from where we stayed was Point Medanos, it’s a long rock path that you can walk on out into the water. The views everywhere in San Diego were so amazing, like nothing I had never seen before.

5. Seattle, WA

My favorite place I’ve ever been to was Seattle. The people are all so nice and very welcoming to the tourists in the city. Downtown Seattle has so much to do. For someone that loves Starbucks, there is one on every corner! Including the original one, at Pike’s Place Market. Pike’s Place is also a great place to go in Seattle, it has many local shops and businesses with vendors selling anything you could imagine. There is the famous Space Needle, you can go up to the top and see the whole city from there. The best part of Seattle is that it is a big city, but it is right on the water, in the distance you can see the mountains. Seattle is the most beautiful city I’ve ever seen and I hope to live there someday.

Travelling teaches you different things about the world and about yourself, I believe it is essential to finding out who you are as a person. I hope you take my advice and visit at least one of these places soon!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
