5 Perks Of Having A Younger Best Friend

Some people might find it weird when I say my best friend is four years younger. But honestly, who cares? All that matters is that I love hanging out with her. With having a younger best friend, I get the little sister I've always wanted but never had. There are definitely more perks to having a younger best friend than negatives, too many positives to put in one article!

1. The little sister you never had

For me it’s the best thing ever. As the youngest sibling in my family, I have always wanted a little sibling, but I especially wanted a sister. Someone I could be a big sister to. And it just so happens that my best friend has an older brother, so she didn’t have an older sister to do things with, and I love filling that big sister role to her

2.You don’t live with them.

Not living with them means you are not in each other's hair all of the time. You never really get annoyed by them like you do with your blood-related siblings. You can spend as much time as you want with them, but at the end of the day, you’ll each be going back to your own homes, well unless of course you have a sleepover, but that’s usually only for one night.

3. Technology pro

OK, maybe they aren’t technology pros, but they do have the advantage of growing up with technology always being a part of their life. Now you might say to me that I’m not that old, but when you’re talking about technology, I am, and the four-year difference between us definitely feels like quite a lot. Let’s just say to make it simple, I learned a lot from my best friend about technology and I am still learning from her.

4. Fashion assistant

With having a younger best friend, you always have someone to help you decide what to wear. I could never actually ask my older sister since she was born in the early '90s, so she has a way different way to look at fashion. Whereas my younger best friend can always help me decide what still looks good with today’s trends. Not that my older sister has a bad taste in style, it’s just that her style isn’t what is necessarily in style now.

5. You’re someone to look up to.

You’re the role model in the friendship. Your younger best friend has someone to look up to. They are watching everything you do and seeing what you do right and wrong, that way they don’t make the same mistakes that you did. You are the one to give advice whenever needed, although sometimes your younger best friend has better advice than you do.

I have no idea what I would do without my younger best friend. She is my other half and my little sister. I love her tons!

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
