5 Perks of Having a Tall Best Friend
Keep Calm-O-Matic

To be vertically challenged is a way of life. Here are a couple of challenges I face regularly:

I expect to see things last. I can never reach things. I can't see over the steering wheel at the top of big hills, which forces me to just close my eyes and hope for the best. I get pushed to the back of group photos because people don't know I'm there. I get asked if I "can do that." Excuse me? Does it look like I don't have a brain and some arms? I can figure it out. Most importantly, I can never share clothes.

No need to worry though friends, because my best friend is tall, an amazing blonde (the exact opposite of me) and she is amazing. We are like two peas in a pod. She's got my back and I have hers. It's funny because we always have an eye on each other since we are both on the opposite sides of the height spectrum. So, when people look at her for her height I give them a stare that makes them think twice about looking. And when I get looked at for my height, my friend stands in front of me like, "Bam. Wanna mess?"

Here are 5 some perks about having a tall best friend:

1. Being at social events or in public: She always fills me in on who is in the crowd, and who is coming our way that I need to avoid. I honestly couldn't do this myself, guys. My friend can see things way before me. I always feel on my toes.

2. They're a helping hand: She is always there to give me a hand. Not being able to reach things is sometimes so stressful! But I know I can always count on her to be there for me.

3. Feeling protected: I always know she's got my back. Whether I'm in a pickle or need a guard for the day, she's happy to hold the fort down.

4. We get to our destination: I walk pretty fast for my height because I have some long legs. So when we need to get places together, expect us to be first.

5. We can laugh a little: It's nice having her around because we make fun of each other sometimes, but its all fun loving. Sometimes we have a moment where we actually realize how crazy the height difference is.

Thanks for the endless love and support Maddie. You are great and have such an amazing aura and heart. I'm blessed to have you in my life. Thanks for being a short girls tall, best friend.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
