Paramore is more than just a band. At least to their fans, Paramore is basically a way of life. Being one of the most dedicated group of fans means that not only do people know their lyrics, people live by them. This may just be me but I hope I'm not alone when I say, I would not be who I am without this band behind me.
1. "I am finding out that maybe I was wrong, That I've fallen down and I can't do this alone"
This lyric reminds me that it's okay not to be okay. It's okay to ask for help and it's okay to rely on other people. Being an extremely stubborn person is part of the reason I love Paramore so much. They're a band that's all about being strong. This lyric, however, is a gentler lyric that always calms me down and reminds that it's okay to admit that I am wrong and look for guidance in others.
2. "This heart will start a riot in me"
From their song, "That's What You Get," this lyric and this entire song helps me accept that life sucks and gets me excited to bounce back. The entire song is a jam that allows people to belt out their emotions and let them go. This one little lyric shows that no matter how angry a person is, they will, with time, be able to move on and change the issues that they have in their life.
3. "And in the free fall I will realize, I'm better off when I hit the bottom"
This lyric is possibly my favorite lyric of all time. Sometimes things happen that you cannot control. Life gets the better of you. And when you're going though that time, it feels like it's never going to get better. It also feels like life is spiraling and everything that use to be amazing, isn't anymore. Those moments are when I look to this line. The terrible things that keep happening are going to end. Once you hit that bottom, the only place you can go is up. On the way down, it feels like life will never be okay again but hitting that final point means the worst is over and it's time to rebuild. Though dark, this is one of Paramore's most inspirational lyrics.
4. "See, I'm trying to find my place, But it might not be here where I feel safe"
"Misguided Ghosts" is one of the most beautifully written songs of all time. This lyric is so important to me because growing up and moving on is extremely difficult. Being in college, change is a daily part of life. College is all about figuring out who you are and who you want to be, but that is not an easy task. Finding yourself is uncomfortable and challenging because it involves so not so fun times. In order to learn and grow, mistakes have to be made. You have to get out of your comfort zone and this line reminds of just how crucial that part of life is.
5. "And the salt in my wounds isn't burning anymore than it used to, It's not that I don't feel the pain, It's just I'm not afraid of hurting anymore"
From the song "Last Hope" off of Paramore's newest album, this lyric is so inspirational. "Last Hope" as an entire song makes me feel like everything is going to be okay. Throughout the song, the lyrics explain just how important having any hope is. Even if it's a tiny amount, it's enough to drive you to do anything. This lyric specifically just shows how important it is to accept what's happened to you and not be afraid of it. Life is about taking risks and coming to terms with what comes with those risks. Life isn't about hiding what hurts us or ignoring it. It's about facing it head on and becoming stronger in the long run. "Last Hope" can bring us out of your darkest moments by reminding us that things happen that are out of our control and it is our job to remember the things that have kept us going for so long.
