I have never been really big on quotes -- at least, not the type of quotes you see on Pinterest all the time that are super cheesy like, "You can't have a rainbow without a little rain." While it is a very true quote, it just strikes me as something you'd tell a small child, not an adult. I understand that not all people feel that way, but like I said earlier, I've never been really big on quotes. Because I am not a very big quote person, when I find one that I like, it isn't one that I forget easily.

These are the five quotes that have stuck out to me and remained my favorite quotes for quite some time now.

1. "If you think about human nature, our favorite pair of shoes are the ones we bought yesterday, our favorite thing is the newest thing that we have and the thing we've seen the most and for the longest period of time is our reflection in the mirror, so obviously, that's going to be our least favorite thing." -Taylor Swift

This is one of my favorite quotes because it has a lot of truth to it and it stuck out to me because I had not thought about it in the way that it is presented.

2. “When I was a little girl, I used to read fairy tales. In fairy tales you meet Prince Charming and he's everything you ever wanted. In fairy tales the bad guy is very easy to spot. The bad guy is always wearing a black cape so you always know who he is. Then you grow up and you realize that Prince Charming is not as easy to find as you thought. You realize the bad guy is not wearing a black cape and he's not easy to spot; he's really funny, and he makes you laugh and he has perfect hair.” -Taylor Swift

This is one of my favorite quotes for obvious reasons. I was that little girl who was obsessed with fairy tales and happy endings (I still am) but the truth to this has also made it one of my favorites.

3. "I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe / There I just said it, I'm scared you'll forget about me." -John Mayer from "Edge of Desire"

This is from his song called "Edge of Desire," and it is one of my favorite quotes just because it shows how much he loves this person by saying he'll change what he believes in if it means that he can have her, and that is really romantic to me.

4. "My broken veins say that if my heart stops beating / We'll bleed the same way" - Matty Healy from The 1975

I'm really obsessed with this band and this quote has always been one of my favorites. This is from the song "Pressure" by The 1975.

5. "Whenever you feel unloved, unimportant, or insecure, remember to whom you belong." - Ephesians 2:19-22

This is a pretty self explanatory verse, but it's one that is very important to me.

The transition into adulthood is never easy

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
