Hey Lovelies, I'm back at it again with some life lessons from yours truly. I hope I wasn't gone too long and I hope that you missed me.
There are some topics in here that will make your life a little easier and challenge you to be more in life. I learned the hard way on some of these topics and I can only hope that so many of you will ask for help before you do things that can alter will lives or just make life a little easier. I wish I’d had people just a little older and wiser than me to help me navigate life.
So… if you don’t have a fairy godmother to lead you, take my hand and we will jump right in!
You don’t have to date people you don’t like in hopes of there being a spark.
There is nothing worse and more desperate than people begging for you to still date them after you’ve made it known that you’re not interested. It’s not fair to either party involved if one of the two are not interested in the other person.
Of course, the thought of being pursued is exciting, and free food and laughs will always be nice, but the spark that’s missing to complete step one of entering a relationship will never be there if it's not there now. Spare the both of you and don’t waste either of your time.
Cooking at home will help you lose that unwanted weight and save your wallet.
Cooking things at home more than you eat out will help you shed some of those unwanted pounds from Christmas break you put on. Eating out, whether with friends or just swinging by the drive-through on the way home is probably the main culprit of your recent weight gain and possibly other health and skin issues you are struggling with.
Even when restaurants say things are healthy, if you didn’t make it, you don’t know what’s in it. Eating out is also not very cost efficient, even if you are eating off the dollar menu. It is better for you to take your 3 days’ worth of 8 dollar burgers ($24) to the grocery store and buy 3 lbs of ground beef, the good sliced cheese, any toppings you want, a bag of fries, and even Whataburger’s ketchup (sold at HEB).
Cook yourself up a fresh cheeseburger, of which you can have 6 half pounders (burgers for the week) and cut the garbage out of your diet. Your body and wallet will thank you.
Being on social media is not the same as being social.
Pick your head up off the screen and have some face to face time in real life. There is nothing worse than being part of the stereotype that says people today are face down in their phones oblivious to what’s happening in the real world. There are so many things to learn from real life experiences with people and family members that cannot be taught through YouTube and Instagram.
Stop and smell the roses.
This is cliche and still an important virtue. To me, this is literal and figurative. Literal because we should stop to smell the roses and daisies, and look up at the massive trees that give us oxygen. They are so beautiful, and we should admire them for what they are. Watch The Lorax (2012), you’ll get it.
Figuratively, because we should take every chance that comes our way to be grateful for the roses in our life and stop to smell them. We may not have such an opportune moment ever again, so admire the one you have right now.
Be assertive.
We live in such a passive world and so many of us, especially women, are being overrun by people that are simply more assertive than us. Simply put, just buck up a little, put a little pride in your step, and do what you need to do get where you need to go with class and grace.
There is nothing wrong with holding your head up and having a little strength in your voice.
