As Thanksgiving approaches, many of us are excited to get together with our families like the good old days, and some not so much. With that being said, many of us do the same thing every year, whether it be sitting down on your phone hoping no one decides to ask you school is going or where your *ex* significant other is or watching football and socializing. If you're looking to shake things up this year, here are five games that don't require electronics to make Thanksgiving fun and sociable.
1. UNO
This one may be tricky as the draw 4 card is infamous for ruining friendships and relationships, but with a non-competitive bunch, Uno is a classic card game the whole family can enjoy.
2. Cards Against Humanity
Staying with the theme of card games, Cards Against Humanity is a game that sure to bring laughs to anyone who joins in, but this is definitely intended for older crowds and probably isn't something you want to play around your grandma *player discretion is advised*
3. Apples to Apples
Apples to Apples is basically the kid-friendly version of Cards Against Humanity. You could have one room with the kid friendly version and another with the adult version. Or you can just have the kid friendly version and avoid any potential awkwardness, your choice.
4. The Game of Life
Straying away from card games, The Game of Life is a fun classic. I think this is a game friendly for even the most competitive family members.
5. Monopoly
You can't have a list of good games without Monopoly. This game can be long and intense but is worth every second. If you're looking to spend extra time with the fam, this is the game for you.
The holidays are a time to put down your phones, take a break from the everyday craziness and truly spend time with your family. Sometimes, going back to the days where non electronic games were a lot more popular than the electronic ones can bring back old memories and create a little friendly competition in the process. Let's unplug from everything else this Thanksgiving and focus on what really matters, which may or not be beating your cousins at each and every game.
