It has been 42 days since the deadliest mass shooting in American history. It's been 5 days since the deadliest mass shooting in Texas history.
Despite two mass shootings occurring this Fall, the topics seemed to fade away so fast. How did the conversations surrounding gun control just disappear suddenly?
The fact that people don't even consider the terrorists (yes, the men who shot up a country music festival and a church should be called terrorists) to be terrorists and push it all onto them being "sick people" is utterly ridiculous. Yes, the two shooters are obviously ill as well, but if an individual that was not white shot up a public venue, there is no doubt he or she would be immediately called a terrorist.
Also, let's not forget that the ever-so-spiritual Roy Moore, who is Alabama's Republican Senate candidate, was just accused of engaging in sexual relations with teenagers when he was in his 30s.
With these serious issues in mind, of course, social media decides to blow up the following topics instead of taking a step back and recognizing that the world around them is in shambles.
Here are some of the "hot" topics of the past few weeks.
1. Kardashian pregnancy drama.
2. The iPhone X.
3. Taylor Swift's new era and "bad reputation"
4. The "Kiwi" music video by Harry Styles where he brings puppies to a food fight.
5. CardiB got engaged to Offset.
I'm not alluding towards the fact that pop culture should not be a part of our lives or that I'm not interested in the iPhone X. I'm just wondering how did people seem to forget about Vegas so quickly.
Are people more focused on trivial "news" because the more serious topics are difficult to discuss?
