Netflix has been killing it with the release of their own original series and movies recently. These shows and films are not only captivating and thrilling, but many of them touch on important social issues. Without further ado, here are my top five Netflix Originals!

1. The Fundamentals Of Caring

The Fundamentals of Caring is possibly my favorite movie of all time. It follows the story of two unlikely friends, Ben and Trevor, on the road trip of all road trips. This movie is hilariously uplifting with a dark sense of humor that is refreshing.

2. 3%

I was hesitant about watching 3% at first, I had heard good and bad things about the series, but I finally decided to give it a shot. I was hooked after the first episode. It's set in this dystopian world where only 3 percent of the population is chosen to live in a safe environment, while the other 97 percent of people live in poverty and danger. This show has subtitles, but it's so easy to follow you barely realize that you're reading.

3. Stranger Things

Where do I even begin with this amazing thriller? I'm sure everyone's already heard of Stranger Things, but if you haven't; WATCH IT. It is beyond worth it and I guarantee once you start, you won't be able to stop. Mixing sci-fi and humor and tension and suspense, this Netflix Original keeps you on the edge of your seat episode after episode.

4. Jessica Jones

If you're a fan of the unconventional superhero, Jessica Jones is your girl. This gritty crime fighting thriller is laden with humor and action. The best part of this series, however, is the manner in which this show addresses serious social issues. Jessica Jones will make you laugh, it will make you angry, it will make you cry, it will make you want to watch it again.

5. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Now, this show is possibly one of the funniest I've ever seen. Kimmy Schmidt is hilariously helpless at the modern world, and it is a joy to watch her try to figure it all out. If you haven't already given this show a chance, I highly recommend you do. It's quirky humor will have you clutching your stomach and laughing out loud.
