Everyone knows that New Orleans has the best food in the world. Also, everyone loves brunch. So brunch + New Orleans = heaven on a plate.

1. Brick and Spoon

If you are the type of person who enjoys mimosas and bloody marys, this is the place for you! Brick and Spoon goes beyond the standard mimosa. They offer flavors like pineapple, mango, and wild berry! They also take a bloody mary to the next level by allowing you to build your own bloody mary meal. You start by picking your vodka, then you go crazy adding just about anything on top including a wide range of veggies, herbs, meats and cheeses! Since Brick and Spoon is located on Magazine Street, it is the perfect place to start an adventurous New Orleans day.

2. Ralph's On The Park

If you want to feel fancy, Ralph's on the Park is the perfect high-end brunch spot. Normally, they only do brunch on Sunday – the best brunch day! It’s located in mid-city right across the street from our beautiful city park. It requires a reservation and is the perfect place if you’re looking to celebrate a special day. The menu is loaded with classic New Orleans dishes such as turtle soup, shrimp and grits, and fried smoked oysters. I highly recommend the southern schnitzel & eggs – it’s to die for!

3. The Ruby Slipper Café

Another restaurant that offers classic New Orleans dishes along with French toast and pancakes galore! I am positive that even the pickiest of eaters will find something they love on The Ruby Slipper Café menu. New Orleans natives voted The Ruby Slipper the best breakfast spot in 2016 and best brunch spot in 2015 – and for good reason!

4. Willa Jean

One word – cookies! That’s right! Willa Jean offers one of a kind brunch options (such as smoked salmon croissant and crispy duck dirty rice), classic New Orleans favorites (such as fried oyster benedict and gulf shrimp étouffée), and quite possibly the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve had in my entire life. Oh, and did I mention the frosé?? If you haven’t tried Willa Jean yet, move it to the top of your list!

5. Blue Line Sandwich Company

This has turned into my go to brunch spot this year. It is quick service, casual, reasonably priced, and has incredible food! My personal favorite is the breakfast burrito. It is not on the official menu, but it is usually offered as a special item. When it is offered, I can’t pass it up. Also, the duck-duck-goose waffle is top notch! Is your mouth watering yet?

These are just a few of so many amazing brunch spots in New Orleans. The restaurants that I mentioned above are some of my personal favorites. I hope you give them a try if you haven’t already. I promise they won’t let you down!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
