Since 2012, Lana Del Rey has been the poster child for old cars, cigarette smoke, and living life to the fullest on account of her breakout album "Born to Die." It has now been five years since the record shook the alternative world and made patriotism and old Hollywood divine. Lana's new creation "Lust for Life" is her fifth record under her stage name. It's all about craving life and every moment in it. This album is a little different from her former works. The tracks work like a story and unlike her other albums, she has multiple collaborations on many of the tracks. Here are some of my favorite songs of the album that are a must hear and match up to her "Born to Die" masterpiece.
1. 13 Beaches
"It hurts to love you, but I still love you"
Being my favorite song on this album, this track is an epitome of Lana's signature sound. The melancholy and relaxing undertones portray the message of finally feeling something real even if that means it doesn't stay.
2. In My Feelings
"Sobbing in my cup of coffee 'cause I fell for another loser"
This track incorporates Lana's "Born to Die" style and "bad bitch" attitude that she is well known for. She's in her feelings but still takes no crap from a man.
3. God Bless America - And All the Beautiful Women In It
"Stand proud and strong like lady liberty shines"
A flower crown queen of course has to add a feminist anthem to their album. This empowering track incorporates patriotism and girl power all in one! The chorus in this track really gives you goosebumps.
4. Summer Bummer (Feat. A$AP Rocky & Playboi Carti)
"High-Tops in the summer, don't be a bummer babe"
This is by far one of the coolest songs on the album. Lana has never done any collaborations on her records and she really made an alternative/indie song sound amazing with hip-hop/rap. A$AP Rocky and Lana are truly a dynamic duo revelation.
5. Lust for Life (Feat. The Weeknd)
"In these stolen moments, the world is mine"
If you remember from The Weeknd's "Beauty Behind the Madness" album, this is not the first time these two have made music together. However, they really made a fantastic hit the second time around. This breathtaking message of cherishing every second of life and constantly wanting more is always what Lana has strived for. You aren't getting any younger so climb that Hollywood sign!
