5 Things You Have To Do On Your Birthday

Pretty much just treat yo' self.

My birthday is one of my favorite holidays (if it even counts as a holiday). It's a day to celebrate yourself, to feel loved, and to be grateful for making it another year. As a big supporter of the idea of "treat yo' self," I feel there are things that must be done on one's birthday and here they are.

1. Eat all the cake and sugary things you want.

As someone who is basically made up of sugar, on my birthday, I don't feel bad for making the eating decisions I make. Whether it be your favorite candy, homemade cupcakes, or a fancy bakery cake, you have to do something that will fill your day with sweetness!

2. Dress up a little!

Feel fancy on your birthday! This is a day for you. If you want, you can even buy an outfit just for this special day. Dressing up helps you feel special!

3. Why not get yourself your own birthday gift?

You can give a wish list to all your friends and family, yet still not get what you want. Even though your birthday isn't REALLY about getting gifts, it is nice. You're the only one who truly knows what you want and/or need, so go for it! Splurge a little if you can. This day should be comprised of doing things that make you happy.

4. Reflect on your past year of life.

Speaking from personal experience, there is always something to learn from each year of life. These lessons help guide your future and how you live your life. Taking a moment to reminisce is really good. Think of all the things you accomplished through any roadblocks or pain you experienced. Be proud!

5. Make goals for the next year of your life.

365 days. That is so much time to use to better yourself and do things that you've always wanted to do. Take advantage of that "fresh start" feeling, and run with it. Make that next year one of the best!

These things will definitely make sure that your birthday is special!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
