You know it’s summer when the beaches are crowded, the days get longer and parks are filled with families enjoying a nice barbecue. Although there’s a lot of people everywhere you go, it really is a beautiful sight to see. And with the view comes all the sounds. The waves crashing against the shore, kids playing in the yard and music being played. Music is really important; it captures the essence of the moment. Whenever you hear a certain song, you also remember all the memories that come with it. Here are some songs that definitely capture the essence of summer!
1. “Amber”
This song is by the band 311; it was released on their album, "From Chaos," in 2001. It is a major throwback but a great one nonetheless! It gives off a really chill, reggae vibe. The guitar riff at the beginning instantly calms you. It’s a perfect song to listen to when you want to lounge in your inflatable raft at the pool.
2. “Someday”
Another great throwback (I’m guessing you can see a pattern) is by the band Sugar Ray. It was released in 1999 off their album, "14:19".This song became very popular because it had a combination of pop, hip-hop grooves and a reggae rhythm. A perfect soundtrack to play at any summer activity!
3. “Jamming”
This song is very well-known because it was created by the king of reggae, Bob Marley! If it wasn’t for him,we wouldn’t have any summer songs. Most artists who were influenced by him, create songs with summer vibes. That’s why most summer hits have some sort of reggae rhythm. This song was released in 1977 off his album " Exodus".
4. “Summer”
Most people know the band, War, because of their song “Low Rider".It was used as the intro song to George Lopez’s self-produced show on ABC.However, they are known to have a variety of great music! A perfect song to add to your summer playlist would be"Summer". There isn’t any noticeable reggae influence in the song but a Latin one. The song was released in 1974 from their album, "War Live". It truly is a timeless song.
Although most of these songs are deemed ancient by younger people, you can’t go wrong with the classics.
