A lot of people go into decorating or shopping for Christmas right after Thanksgiving, with that said it is time to speak about the top 10 winter movies every family must watch! Once the weather drops most families gather around and snuggle up to watch movies. The cold weather allows people to stay inside and rest more than any other time during the year. With winter movies, classics are usually watched more than the new movies that come out in theaters. Here are a couple of everyone's favorite classics!

1. Home Alone

The first time Home Alone came out was when I was five years old and I at least watched it three times a day! The movie is based on a bratty eight year old named Kevin who gets left behind by his family due to his bad behavior and his mother demanding him to sleep in the attic as his form of punishment the night before the family's trip to Paris. The McCallisters are a big family and mistakenly leave to the airport without Kevin, by the time the family realizes they had left Kevin they were already boarding and Kevin wakes up to an empty house. He also believes that his wish about having no family has come true. He faces adventures when two con man plan on robbing his family's residence and it's up to him to protect the house.

2. Elf

Elf is about the protagonist, Buddy, who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and was raised by Santa and his elves. Buddy has always felt like he didn't fit in with everyone else in the North Pole and decides to go to New York City in Search of his real father. His father turns out to be a businessman and the movie focuses on Buddy's father attempt to start a father-son relationship with him.

3. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is an all time classic! Grinch, the protagonist, decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville with the help of his dog named Max. Grinch lives on the mountaintop and sneaks into the town to steal every Christmas item from the Whos. There is a plot twist in the movie when the Grinch encounters a little Who named Cindy Lou and her sweet innocent talk caused a change in his heart and eventually returns everything to the Whos and they have a jolly Christmas altogether.

4. Narnia

The movie Narnia is about four siblings who are sent to a country house in order to be safe from World War II bombing that occurred in London and the adventure for all of them begins when the youngest, Lucy, discovers a wardrobe in the house. The wardrobe transports all of them into a magical world called Narnia where it is up to them to help Aslan, a powerful Lion, to defeat the evil White Witch.

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas is practically everyone of all ages favorite! The movie is about the pumpkin king of Halloween named Jack Skellington who is annoyed and tired of all the same Halloween traditions that take place every year. In the woods of the town, there are holiday trees and each of the trees has a town in it. He becomes engaged into the Christmas Town and decides to change his Halloween town into Christmas and the movie focuses on his attempts to do this.

Winter is the best time in all year round to enjoy watching movies whether it is with a significant other or family members!
