Here are five films that have potential to make a big splash in the cinema industry this month.

1. Arrival – Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner star in the sci-fi film about a linguistics analysis and her attempts to communicate with alien ships that land on Earth. Combing intelligent ideas and a smart storyline, this movie has received universally positive reviews so far. Release date: November 10th.

2. Dr. Strange – The new Marvel Studios adventure stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton in a film that takes the Marvel Cinematic Universe into new dimensions. With eye-popping special effects, this film promises to bring new life into Marvel films. Release date: November 3rd.

3. Loving – This film focuses around the story of the interracial marriage between Richard and Mildred Loving and their fight to legally live as a family in their hometown. Their case went all the way to the Supreme Court and outlined the definition of the right to marry for many couples after. It is likely to receive multiple nominations at the Oscars after receiving rave reviews from the Cannes Film Festival. Release date: November 3rd.

4. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them – Taking place in the same setting as the acclaimed Harry Potter books/movies, this film could provide Eddie Redmayne the opportunity to continue his fine cinematic form of recent years, this time with a more box office friendly hit. Directed by long-standing Harry Potter film director David Yates, this film has all the ingredients to create something truly magical. Release date: November 17th.

5. Manchester by the Sea – The latest film from award-winning director/screenwriter Kenneth Lonergan (screenwriter for Gangs of New York) focuses on a Bostonian janitor who returns home to take care of his nephew after his brother’s passing. The film deals with themes of family love and sacrifice and is an early Oscar favorite. Release date: November 17th.
