2016 is coming to an end, which means another year of cinematic brilliance is coming to a close. This year was full of record breaking movies such as Finding Dory, Suicide Squad and Deadpool; and there are even more to come. Here are five movies to watch before the end of 2016:

5. Bye Bye Man

This movie is supposed to be utterly scary. Three college kids move to an old house off campus, and a supernatural entity known as the "Bye Bye Man" gets released. He preys on them and others around them, and it's up to the kids to protect each other from reaching a deadly fate. Rated PG-13 and being released December 9th, be prepared to be scared.

4. The Edge of Seventeen

Staring Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson, this movie (rated R), recieved a 7.7 out of 10 on IMDB. It is a comedic satire about a 17 year old female's life. The tagline is, "You're only young once... is it over yet?" It's about a teenager named Nadine, who is awkward and socially strange, and life only becomes harder when her best friend starts dating her popular older brother. Being released on November 18th, packed houses are expected.

3. Why Him?

This movie will be one to remember. Staring James Franco and Bryan Cranston, this is a comedy that you don't want to miss. Over the holidays, a father, his wife and his son go to visit their daughter at Stanford; where they meet her billion boyfriend. A rivalry then forms between the father and the boyfriend, and the movie follows them as they continue to challenge and compete against one another. Being released December 23rd, this movie is sure to bring humor and enjoyment to your family this holiday season.

2. Moana

This Disney movie has been anticipated for as long as I can remember. After years of begging from Disney fans, they finally promised a Princess of color; and that movie is finally here. The animated feature stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (as Demi-God Maui) and Hawaiian native Auli'i Cravalho (as Moana). The only released information is that Moana's family is in need, so she sets off on an epic journey with Maui. Being released November 23rd, this highly anticipated movie is projecting a $400 million box office earning. Also, with Lin-Manuel Miranda (the creator of Alexander Hamilton on Broadway) producing the songs, it will come as no shock to audiences.

1. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

I have waited so long for this movie! I'm a huge fan of all things Harry Potter and the world of Witchcraft and Wizardry! When I heard a prequel was being made and that Eddie Redmayne was staring, I became even more enthralled within it all. The movie follows Newt Scamander's monster adventures in New York's secret world of wizardry, 70 years before Harry Potter read about them in his school books. Written by J.K Rowling herself, this movie is sure to bring in a new generation to the wizarding world! Being released November 18th, expect nothing less than a packed house of people who preordered their tickets.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
