Everyone needs a good motivational movie to get them through the hardest time of the semester. It’s the few days before winter break, and you’re just hours or minutes away from being able to spend time with your family and friends for the holidays, so here! Have my top five insparational movies to get through finals week when you need a brain break.

1. The Freedom Writers

A young teacher faces her first teaching job in a high school english class with at risk youth that face the violence and racism in everyday america.

This movie is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. If you haven’t seen this, watch it. Remember that no matter where you come from, you can suceed.

2. Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump is a simple man with a low I.Q. but good intentions. He is running through childhood with his best and only friend Jenny. His 'mama' teaches him the ways of life and leaves him to choose his destiny.

This movie is a no brainer. I didn’t have the joy of watching this movie until I was 18 years old, but I immedietly fell in love. This movie proves that with love and percervieance, you can do anything you put your mind to.

3. The Pursuit of Happyness

the amazing real-life tale of Chris Gardner who, with the power of hard work and perseverance, takes himself from sleeping on the subway all the way to the millionaire founder of his own brokerage house.

Who doesn’t love a great will smith movie?

4. School of Rock

Dewey finn gets kicked out of his rock band and decides to take a job as a substitute teacher for a 4th grade class. While trying to connect with the students, they form a rock band.

Jack black will motivate me to study any day. Also, some music doesnt hurt! I love being able to see the change in the attitudes of the kids.

5. Good Will Hunting

A touching tale of a wayward young man who struggles to find his identity, living in a world where he can solve any problem, except the one brewing deep within himself

Good will hunting is a feel good motivational movie. But at the end of the day, no one can beat a good robin williams movie.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
