5 Movie Quotes To Make You Love Love
huffpost.com

Love is starting to seem like a pastime no one wants to partake in. Love has become the last one picked for the dodgeball game. The closest we come to Cinderella and Prince Charming these days is a couple that lasts more than a week, or more than one night for that matter. I fear that we’ve forgotten that human beings have feelings and that love is sacred. And as a writer, all I know, is words matter and we could all do a better job of using them. So for now, here’s five random movie quotes to make you want to believe in love again.

Warning-Spoilers (Sort of)

5. The Notebook

“So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday.”

-Noah Calhoun, The Notebook

Who doesn't want a man who is willing to fight for them? And Ryan Gosling, for that matter… He could make a girl believe in love again.

4. “Titanic”

“Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me… it brought me to you. And I’m thankful for that, Rose. I’m thankful. You must do me this honor. Promise me you’ll survive. That you won’t give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose, and never let go of that promise.”

—Jack, Titanic

Don’t we all want a Jack? Gorgeous, loyal, and so crazy in love with you that he's willing to do anything he can to make sure you survive, even if that means moving forward without him, even if it means letting you have the whole door to yourself.

3. “When Harry Met Sally”

“I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”

—Harry Burns, When Harry Met Sally

The whole friends thing… can it work? Harry and Sally can make you think so!

2. “Silver Linings Playbook”

“The only way you can beat my crazy was by doing something crazy yourself. Thank you. I love you. I knew it the minute I met you. I’m sorry it took so long for me to catch up. I just got stuck.”

—Pat, The Silver Linings Playbook

A story with a happy ending, but also tackles the reality of living with mental illness? Yes. (Also, love at first sight exists, people? One can dream…)

1. “Dirty Dancing”

“Me? I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw, I’m scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.”

- Baby, Dirty Dancing

Because there’s nothing like being brutally honest when it counts.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
