Everyone knows that Fall time is spooky. Corn mazes, haunted houses, ghost tours, but best of all? Scary movies. Here is a compilation of all of the best movies coming out in October.

1. Ouija: Origin of Evil

If you're into scary movies that are set in the past, then you should probably see Ouija: Origin of Evil. If you saw the first Ouija film and loved it, then you also need to see this. Ouija: Origin of Evil is the story of a mother and her daughters who create a scam that welcomes spirits from the other side. This is perfect for a spooky night with friends to prepare for Halloween. Released October 1, 2016.

2. The Accountant

This one isn't as scary, but it is filled with suspense. This features Ben Affleck as, well, an accountant. He has an affinity for math and numbers that he uses in his every day job. But he also works for other companies as their bookkeeper. Somehow, everything turns chaos and Affleck has to work with Anna Kendrick to stay alive. This is an action movie with, what seems like, a lot of twists. This will be released on October 14, 2016.

3. 31

If you loved the Saw series, then this one is for you. This movie tells the story of five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween. They are forced to play the same kind of games like in Saw for 12 hours. Sadly, this movie does not have many big-name, A-list actors, but it does have the same kind of feel as other cheesey and gorey Halloween movies. This will be released on the 21st of October, so maybe make it a double feature to see this and Ouija.... If you have the guts.

4. Friend Request

This movie seems super creepy. The main character accepts a friend request from someone at school who turns out to be a little more friendly than expected. Once the main character removes her from her friend list, scary stuff goes down. Real people are being targeted and killed, Facebook is posting statuses showing that the main character is behind it. What's going to happen to her and her real friends? Friend Request will be released on October 7th.

5. The Girl on The Train

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited to see this. I read the book two summers ago and I suggest you read it before seeing the movie. Unless you want to audibly gasp in the movie theater because PLOT TWIST!!! I won't ruin anything, but I will give a brief synopsis. This stars Emily Blunt as a woman in England who takes the train to work every day. She loves to watch the homes of families who live up against the train tracks. One say, she notices that something changes. No one believes anything she says due to her drinking problem, but she does know something... This edge-of-your-seat suspense thriller comes out October 7th.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
