If you've ever met me, you know I can attempt to dance to anything. Whether it be classical music or heavy metal, I will attempt to dance to it regardless.

Music, to me, is one of the most beautiful things on this planet. It's actually universal, and there's no boundary to what kind of music you can listen to. I listen to music every day, at every moment of the day if I can. To me, a day without music is a day wasted. I'm that girl who will listen to all the new releases on Spotify to see which I like the best.

1. Music allows you to feel everything.

There's music for every emotion. I could not know what I'm feeling and I will find a song that is perfect for the moment. That's why I don't really discriminate when it comes to music, because even though a genre isn't really your "style", there might be a song in that genre that could change your life.

2. Music gives you the ability to travel through time.

My life could be described in genres, albums, and artists.

Every year, a new artist or album is special to me. You know how music can allow you to travel through time to a specific moment in your past? That's my favorite thing about it. I'm extremely sentimental, and music gives me the chance to relive amazing moments in my life. The other day, I was walking to class and "Too Good" by Drake came on. I thought about my friends and how we used to go out to lunch during senior year. I saw myself in my friend's car screaming the lyrics to this song and laughing. It was like being there all over again.

3. Music can change your mood in 2 seconds.

Not only does music let me relive parts of my life, but it can set the mood for my entire day. Just yesterday I was stressed out of my mind about my Chemistry midterm. Then I listened to "Closer" by The Chainsmokers, had a small dance session, and felt so much better.

4. Music can tell you a story.

Another thing that's cool about music is how it can let you in on all the juicy gossip in celebrity lives, or allow you to pretend there's juicy gossip in yours. Songs, especially ballads, allow you to scream along to words about betrayal and cry about being lonely, even if you may not be either of those things.

5. Music can calm you down.

There's something about a good beat that can change everything about your day. It can energize you, or it could calm you down.

Personally, I get worked up really easily, and I use music to calm me down. Calming music is not only good to fall asleep to, but helps with focus and provides a soothing energy that everyone needs in their life.

So, whenever you feel like turning up or crying, there's always a song that will relate to your situation. Even if the song is in a language you might not understand, don't be afraid to give it a listen. It might end up being your new favorite song.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
