5 Long Island Places To Visit This Summer

Long Island is gorgeous during all 4 seasons, but it thrives during the Summer months. With gorgeous beaches, wineries, eateries, and excursions, where else would you want to go?

1. Caumsett State Park

This park is over 1,500 acres of preserved land and historic buildings. The trails lead you into gorgeous landscapes, which you can explore either on bike or on foot. There are also horse back riding stables in this historic park. My personal favorite part of Caumsett is the walled garden, which looks like a scene out of a fairy tale. Whether you are looking for an adventure or a setting for a photo shoot, this place is it.

2. Lavender By the Bay

Just imagine how this place smells. It's almost heaven on Earth. For just $5 admission, you can look out on fields of purples and greens, inhale the calming smell of lavender, and you get a complimentary piece of lavender as a souvenir. Lavender By the Bay also has an amazing gift shop with lavender beauty products, delicious lavender flavored teas and treats, and fresh picked lavender bouquets. If you love nice smells and beautiful sights, this place is for you.

3. Greenport Village

Personally, I have so many fond childhood memories of this place. I would go with my family and be so excited to ride the carousel and get ice cream from one of the many dessert stops. I still love this place. It's loaded with cute shops, art galleries, seafood restaurants, and has an amazing view from the harbor. I would definitely recommend this place for families.

4. Nassau County Museum of Art

The actual museum building is gorgeous, and home to so many educational exhibits, but the real treat is the land that the building sits on. There are 145 acres of beautiful gardens for you to explore. The sculpture garden is filled with huge works of art that will take your breath away, and you can admire them all while sitting in the shade of the trees. Many people have picnics in the sculpture garden. You can also visit the flower garden, which is full of beautiful colors and a perfect photo opp.

5. Sunken Meadow Creek

If you're from the North Shore, you've probably been to Sunken Meadow beach. But one of my favorite places, and best kept secret, has got to be Sunken Meadow Creek. There are hiking trails along the creek, and beautiful bridges to stop and look out on the water. I've seen so much wildlife here, and I totally recommend spending a few hours exploring-as long as it isn't too hot outside.

Let's make Summer on Long Island extra special. Visit, explore, share, and experience.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
