With all the talk about DJs playing prerecorded sets, doing nothing but twisting knobs, not playing “real music” or any other hater-esque comments, it is very exciting when a live element is implemented into any electronic music set. If anything, it gives the artist a little more musical credibility in a world that doesn’t want to believe electronic producers are musicians. You may be asking yourself, “what exactly is the difference between a live set and a dj set?” the answer to that question is having one live element other than mixing.
It is amazing how many instruments sound really great with electronic music. Here are some live acts currently on tour in 2016.
- Porter Robinson & Madeon- Shelter Tour
An electrifyingly kawaii duo for a tour. Both rock out on an electronic drum set and keyboard, and sometimes even live vocals (at the same time not to mention) and it is simply something you have to experience for yourself.
- Lindsey Sterling- Brave Enough Tour
A violin/dubstep package. Who would have thought the combo could create something so magical? The violinist is even making music for a Disney movie!
- Krewella- Sweatbox Tour
Not only do they perform live vocals for all of their songs, they also are on tour with a full live band. The duo has turned more towards an electro punk vibe and the band does nothing but great things for their new image. Sounds sweaty indeed.
- Flume- Flume World Tour
I think we can all agree that flume makes skin tingling music, but with a live drum incorporated into his performance it is nothing short of
- Griz- Good Will Prevail Tour
If you’ve seen him before, you know you can never go wrong at a griz show. His signature sax can get anyone groovy and his new diverse album can cater to almost any electronic music fan.
