From the classic TV series and Netflix obsession we can learn quite a few lessons about life. As we followed the main characters, Dan, Blair, Chuck and Serena, through high school and on to college and you're completely lying to yourself if you didn't get personally and emotionally invested in the show. XOXO...
1. That Popular Girl Doesn't Always Get Everything.
Early in the show while they were still in high school, Blair made sure it was known that it was her biggest goal to get into Yale. But Blair let her scheming and competitiveness get in the way of that, and the spot for Yale got filled by someone else. What this experience can teach us is that no matter who we are, how much money we may have or what influence we may think we have, we can never get everything we want in life. Not everything can be handed to us, sometimes it requires a great deal of work and dedication. Not everything can go our way in life, because then we wouldn't really be living, would we?
2. True Love Doesn't Die.
From the very very beginning of the show, we were all rooting for Chuck and Blair to end up together. They put us through what is most likely the most off and on relationship in history, but they could never make it work because the timing was never right. No matter how many times they broke each other's hearts, they found a way back to each other. Even when they threw Blair a prince and had them get married in the show, she still loved Chuck. By the end though, Chuck and Blair did find a way back to each other, because there was never two people more meant to be together than those two. A truly happy ending for all of us who shipped Chuck and Blair from the start.
3. Work For What You Want.
Even though this show detailed the lives of the Upper East Side's elite teens, in no way did they have everything handed to them. A perfect example of this was when Chuck's father "died" and left him his Empire. On more than one occasion, multiple people tried to steal Chuck's empire from him. And although he lost himself a few times along the way, Chuck came back and worked hard to prove that he deserved to run his empire.
4. Keep People In Your Life Who You Know Will Have Your Back.
A great example of this is Blair and Serena. They started the series as best friends and ended the show as best friends too. Yes, these two Upper East Side princesses no doubt had their fair share of disagreements and fights, but what is important is that fact that each time they came back to each other. True friends won't be afraid to tell you how it is, they'll always have your back no matter what, and will stay in your life untill the end.
5. You Truly Cannot Trust Anyone.
Was anyone else genuinely surprised that Dan, of all people, was gossip girl. I mean it shouldn't have been that big of a surprise, because looking back once finishing the show there were so many hints leading to him. But that just goes to show that even the most innocent looking person can have some serious altered motives.
