5 Lies They Tell You About College
BethWonson

All through high school, you hear stories about college and what it is going to be like. You will believe most of these things because they come from teachers, guidance counselors, older siblings and sometimes parents. They can make college sound either like a nightmare or a paradise, however, these things they are telling you may not always be true. This is my list of the biggest lies I was told about college:

1. College is the BEST 4 years of your life!

This is probably dependent on the person. If you are lucky enough this may be the case but for me, it wasn't the case. I have stayed stressed and had to grow up in a lot of ways I wasn't ready to deal with.

2. College is 4 years!

Sometimes this is the case but sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances you wind up going to college longer than four years. That is okay! As long as you stick with it and do your best it is okay!

3. Dorm Rooms Are The BEST!

This is most certainly not the case unless you like being in a cramped room with someone else and being able to hear every move your neighbors make! Not to mention the chances of getting a dirty roommate.

4. Professors won't even know if you miss class

At Pfeiffer this isn't the case. Most of our classes are so small it hard not to notice when a student is out, especially if there's only 2 students in a class.

5. TEXTBOOK REQUIRED!!

This is the biggest lie I have heard before college and since starting college!!! Most of the textbooks I bought/rented I have never even opened!

1. Nails done hair done everything did / Oh you fancy huh

You're pretty much feeling yourself. New haircut, clothes, shoes, everything. New year, new you, right? You're ready for this semester to kick off.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
