5 Lessons Of Life From 'How I Met Your Mother'

Some major takeaways about life from the show

5 Lessons Of Life From 'How I Met Your Mother'

I think I speak for many when I say “How I Met Your Mother” is still one of the best television shows, even though it ended almost two years ago. As I was binge-watching it for the third time, I realized the show hits on truths about life that are relatable to everyone.

1. You will have a Patrice

Remember Patrice? She was the girl at Robin’s workplace that she really hated without a good reason. In your workplace, you will find your “Patrice.” There’s always going to be that person you may not like (and probably not have a good reason for hating them). It may not hurt to befriend them! If they are like Patrice, there’s a chance they could bake cookies for you!

2. Sometimes, life can be too much

I think Robin makes this point pretty clear. Sometimes, life will not go the way you want it. You may try to push through the stress you are feeling, but it can get hard to constantly do that. At some point, you just need to have a drink (or a bottle) and find a quiet space where you can cry. We’ve all felt this way from time to time. Sometimes, it is for the best to have a nice cry and then pick yourself back up again.

3. You’ll have that friend who will take you on a crazy adventure

There is that one friend who will act like Barney. The person who will want to do something crazy and drag you along for the ride. Some of those adventures are “legend … wait for it … dary,” and some other adventures tend to get a little out of hand. Even if an adventure seems a little crazy, it is worth doing it. After all, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

4. There are some friends that are worth being in your life

You may have some people that will stay in your life for a short time, but there are some that will always be in your life. If you only take away one lesson from this show, let that lesson be that the people who matter most to you will always be a part of your life. Whether it is staying at a bar until 2 in the morning or binge watching television shows, the people who matter most to you will create some lasting memories that you all will laugh about in the future.

5. Keep a positive attitude

This whole show was based on Ted telling his children the story of how he met their mother. We see Ted go through numerous breakups throughout the series, but rarely do we see him being pessimistic about finding “the one.” Lesson: Keep thinking positively. If you think like that, things will go your way!

“How I Met Your Mother” shows us how life can be for all of us. Life may not always go the way you want it, but its beauty and unpredictability can create memories you will never forget!

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
